Socialisation is about getting your puppy used to sights and sounds of everyday life, not just playing with other dogs.

Social etiquette is just as important as training, this is learnt through play and socialising but needs to be done in a safe environment.

It is very important to socialise your puppy but equally important to do this properly, so they can play in harmony and issues don’t develop. If a bouncy puppy lands on a fearful puppy they may have just learnt to bully; likewise the fearful puppy may become even more fearful.

A lot of behavioural problems occur due to this vital stage not being handled correctly. At our socialisation days we have adult dogs present that have lots of experience working with puppies and all puppies are supervised at all times.

Throughout the day they gain confidence and understanding of how to approach and behave around other dogs. We accept puppies up to 5 months.

Puppies entering the socialisation day are thoroughly vetted and appropriately placed on arrival. Puppies learn through association; it is of paramount importance that your puppy is not left in the park to find out he has just approached the wrong dog

As a behavioural specialist I understand the importance of socialising puppies correctly.

All puppies need to be up to date with their jabs and wormed. We will need to see proof of this.
